Golden Spike Hockey is a recreational house hockey progam that will be conducted to accommodate all levels of players who wish to play hockey and focus on sportsmanship, enjoyment, recreation and competition. All of which are the focus of the skill progressions for youth hockey as defined by USA Hockey. Golden Spike Hockey also provides an enviroment for those those players who wish to excel in a competitive environment that competes at a state and national level.

Military Assistance - Defending the Blue Line

“Defending the Blue Line”! Defending the Blue Line is a 501 (c)(3) non profit organization created by soldiers with the spirit of
keeping hockey alive for the children of our nations military heroes.
Our mission at Defending The Blue Line (DTBL) is ensuring that children of military members are afforded every opportunity to participate
in the game of hockey. We accomplish this by providing free equipment for military kids, hockey camps, special events, and financial
assistance for registration fees and other costs associated with hockey. Grant requests need to be in by 30 Sep 11.

2011-12 New Policy: Concussion and Head Injury Prevention
All youth athletes participating at the Pee Wee, Bantam, and Midget levels are required to complete a concussion management baseline test through the services of Intermountain McKay-Dee Sports Medicine prior to practice or competition. This baseline testing must be complete prior to stepping on the ice . Please contact 801-387-7678 (800-38SPORTS) and schedule this testing.
2011-12 New Policies: Body Checking
New policies have been implemented by USA Hockey for body checking. This policy will be implemented within Golden Spike and follow those guidelines found at the USA Hockey website.
2011-12 New Policy: Coaching Certifications
USA Hockey has modified its coaching certification program. The new guidelines can be found on the USA Hockey website. Starting this year, you will only be allowed to take one certification level course and must also complete an age-specific module. If you are currently a level 4, you will still be required to take the age-specific module.
2011-12 New Policy: Equipment Rental
Golden Spike will no longer "hold" deposit checks for the use of the Golden Spike equipment.
In order to use the equipment owned by Golden Spike Hockey, an actual deposit must be provided. This deposit will be refunded at the end of the season upon return of the equipment. If you currently are holding any of Golden Spike equipment for use, please select those items below so a deposit can be applied. If you no longer need this equipment, please return it as soon as you can.
The need to use one item of equipment (i.e. shin guards etc.) will require a deposit of $25
The need to use two or three items of equipment (i.e. shin guards, gloves, and elbow pads) will require a deposit of $50
The need for four plus or a full set of equipment will require a $75 deposit.
A limited supply of equipment is available and will be issued on a first come, first serve basis on Thursday, September 15 starting at 6:00-7:00 pm at the Ice Sheet. This will also serve as the registration time for those players as well.

3/3/2011 - Volunteers for next year (15) Please visit the Golden Spike section on the display board in the Ice Sheet Lobby area for our volunteer sign up sheet. We would like to see as many people volunteer as possible for the opportunities that are posted... the more the merrier as we all have a stake in the growth and development of the program. Please feel free to sign up for multiple positions per your desire.
