Golden Spike Hockey's Try For Free Program Golden Spike Hockey provides the opportunity for any child to try hockey. This allows a child to have a trail of hockey before they make a commitment. The program requirements are as follows: 1. The child must be between the ages of 3-14. Recommend start age is 5 but depends on the child. 2. The child can only use the "Try for Free" program with Golden Spike once. 3. If the the child participated in another hockey "Try for Free" program, they are not eligible to participate. 4. All hockey equipment is required except shoulder pads. 5. The helmet must fit properly without the use of articles of clothing to make it fit (i.e. the use of a stocking hat) 6. Equipment can be rented for a deposit of $75 which will be refunded upon return of the equipment. 7. The trial period consists of four (4) consecutive ice times as posted on the schedule, NOT four (4) actual ice time skates (for example: if the child starts on on 17 Sept and the next available ice times are 22 Sept, 24 Sept, 29 Sept, those will be considered the ice times available for the trial. If the child misses one of those days, there will not be an extra day added to the trial. 7. An USA HOCKEY IMR number is not required for the trial, but must be purchased if the child wishes to continue in the program. 8. If the child wishes to continue playing after the trial, all fees will be due based on the same policies as all other players within the program. The fees are listed below:
